Alacrity

Settled beyond the barrier,

Body bruised as the score is tallied,

The mind once stirred with endless panic,

Now released with unknown recourse,

A new form of tranquility,

Stillness not without doubt,

Bones descend slowly into flesh,

Aches linger with subtle pang,

Heart and soul spiral toward an accord,

Constant vigilance is exchanged for authentic concern,

For a time there is stability,

Only flashes of dismay,

Wholly outweighed by hope,

Courage unfolds into choice,

A path revealed,

Fog of war embraced with alacrity.
